who we are and
what we do We have a unique relationship with our resident artists, for whom we provide a platform to share songs and videos with Internet technologies such as MP3, Liquid Audio, and RealMedia. We also provide secure online ordering for their CDs, cassettes, T-shirts and other merchandise. And through our compilation CDs (Slipstream Records), live events and a monthly online radio show, we actively promote and cross-promote the music. Unlike the music mega-sites (MP3.com, IUMA, etc.) who don't filter their content, we maintain a cohesive and loyal base of fans who have grown to trust that SlipstreamPresents.com means great music. It was founded in January of 1999 by Miami-based singer/songwriter Matthew Sabatella as a way to achieve wider exposure for the independent artists and music for which he has great love and respect. |

from the beginning A constant in his life throughout these productive musical years has been a dedication to the music of other songwriters. He has contributed (and still contributes) his instrumental and vocal abilities to performances and recordings by a wide array of talented artists including Amanda Green, The Curious Hair, Maria Marocka, Diane Ward, Sixo, Mary Karlzen, Brian Franklin, Angela Patua, and Jolynn Daniel. |

It was in 1998 that the perceived promise of these and other great artists combined synergistically with the notion of a music industry unswayed by quality and the increasingly apparent potential of the Internet to connect artists with audiences. The result of this brew was the concept for the company and web site we now know as SlipstreamPresents.com. The goal was to bypass the traditional music industry, finding fans one at a time and cross-promoting the artists to this growing fanbase. The only thing now was to build a varied, flexible and friendly web site for both music maker and music fan. Sabatella had virtually no money and a combination of a computer and computer knowlege so limited that he could do little more than word processing and using email. With a lot of time, learning and work the site went online in January of 1999 with only Liquid Audio downloadable tracks and a dozen or so artists. A slow and steady development ensued thanks to a pooling of the design efforts of Frank Lamprea, Alison Chambers, Joseph Sabatella and Neil Schlossberg, the addition of inspired music by dozens of other like-minded independent artists, and the faithfulness of fans of great rock and pop music. SlipstreamPresents.com is still growing. |
