The history of the Czars goes back to the last millenium (May 1994 to be exact) when John Grant (vocals) and Chris Pearson (bass) met at the dance club called Rock Island in the red light district of lower downtown Denver, Colorado. Chris was in the local band legends of Denver, Jux County, but willing to try something new. John had spent the better part of 6 years going to college in Germersheim, Germany at the Institute for Applied Linguistics at the University of Mainz, and was in a local german band. Drummer Jeff Linsenmaier was found literally in the alley behind the old Mayan Theater. Chris recruited fellow Jux County member Andy Monley in early 1997 and second guitarist Roger Green joined in 1999 after departing Idelmind to fill out the sound and add effects. | |
