Transcendence is a 5 member modern rock band based out of Miami, Florida. They have a very original sound they call planet music that comes from their fusion of various musical styles and an eclectic and intelligent songwriting--sort of a Beatlesque Prince meets Bowie meets U2 meets Radiohead combined with Will Smith, G love, Led Zeppelin and various South American and Middle Eastern styles.

The charm of Rise and Shine, their newest release on TMG Records, is its ability to sound hauntingly familiar and yet futuristic all at the same time. The 12 songs proper on the album are well crafted and have great hooks and arrangements. Rise and Shine comes off almost like a concept album, combining world-beat rhythms with great modern-rock guitar and a bold palette of experimental sounds.
